Procreate Pocket for PC – How to use on Windows 10, Mac

Download the Procreate Pocket app on PC. It is Powerful enough for creative professionals. Simple enough for everyone. The award-winning app is the most versatile art app ever.

What is the Procreate Pocket PC app

Procreate Pocket for PC is now built on the same Silica-M Metal engine as the Apple Pencil-powered iPad app, and developer Savage Interactive says that every line of code along with every pixel is new. Procreate Pocket features 136 handcrafted brushes, wet painting effects, new time-lapse features, brush imports and exports, and hundreds of additional features that will empower creatives on the go.

While the iPhone obviously lacks support for the Apple Pencil, it does feature 3D Touch, which allows for built-in pressure-sensitive painting with either your finger or a compatible stylus. And because it’s been built specifically with the iPhone in mind, there’s full support for things like haptic feedback, P3 wide color, and multi-threaded support to take advantage of the iPhone’s multiple cores.

It’s also meant to be a fast app. So you can now roughly draw a circle, say, and the app will snap it out to be a perfect one. If you don’t want that precision, you can then choose to distort shapes and warp images.

Get Started

From the start, Procreate Pocket for Windows wants to get out of your way and let you paint. The gallery screen is minimal, and although the app eschews the iOS Document Picker in favor of a proprietary solution, it’s nonetheless straightforward to import and export your work.

When it’s launched, you’re presented with a screen asking if you want to select a canvas from displayed examples, use a user-created one, import an existing image, open a photo, or create a new canvas. New canvases can be created in various sizes up to a whopping 8K resolution.

Tap a gallery image and it expands to fill your display. A toolbar at the top of the screen then provides access to brushes, effects, and layers. To the left are two sliders, for adjusting the size and opacity of the current tool. If that feels too cluttered, a four-finger tap hides the interface. Two- and three- finger taps are used for (multiple) undo and redo.

The UI

Procreate Pocket 2 has a clean and minimally invasive interface that makes the most of the iPhone larger screen, although it works well on smaller iPhone models, too. Basic tools are located at the top of the screen including a drop-down Modify menu. Two small tabs on the left control your brush’s size and opacity level.

The Modify menu items enable you to make changes to either the app or your image. The spanner icon opens the Actions menu where you alter how the app behaves, while the wand icon brings up the Adjustments menu. Here, art tweaks can be applied to layers or complete images. The ‘S’ icon brings up the Selection menu, and the Arrow icon accesses transforming tools.

FEATURES

Redesigned Interface

Designed to put the focus on your canvas and creativity. Enjoy an intuitive UI that’s out of your way, keeping you in the zone, working the way you want.

Advanced Layer System

With PSD compatibility and the ability to export layers as web-ready PNG files, multiple-page PDFs, or frames of an animated GIF, PNG, or MP4. Pocket gives everybody the power to create stunning graphics on the go.

Silica-M Painting Engine

Procreate is built from the ground up to give you the most fluid painting experience with beautiful colors, pixel-perfect painting, and even better performance than ever before.

Pricing

Procreate Pocket ($4.99 on App Store) is the iPhone rendition of the popular Procreate drawing app for iPad.

Final Thoughts

Drawing feels natural and fluid, with only a hint of lag when using the most complex wet paint tools. Interactions between materials aren’t always realistic – you can’t slap a ton of digital oil on to the virtual canvas and drag it about with a stick of charcoal. But as a digital approximation, Procreate Pocket feels beyond its contemporaries. And, besides, being digital is part of the point.

What’s really striking to me is how to Procreate Pocket for PC looks on the iPhone display. Because the iPhone lacks the space of the iPad, Savage kept the app chrome to a minimum, only introducing it when necessary. It results in a very modern-looking app that pops on the iPhone.

Step by Step guide to use Procreate Pocket app on Windows and Mac

  1. You will need an Android emulator on your PC, I will recommend the BlueStacks emulator.
  2. Run the installation wizard and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Open the emulator and look for the PlayStore app
  4. You will be required to log in using your Google ID.
  5. Search for the Procreate Pocket app
  6. Click on the install button to get the app.

NOTE: it is not a freemium app and you will have to pay to install the app on your device.
